UPDATE: Bullet from neighbouring apartment hit Kamloops man

KAMLOOPS - Police in Kamloops are releasing more information about a shooting in the Brocklehurst neighbourhood over the weekend.

Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in a news release officers are still actively investigating the "firearm incident" on Saturday, Nov. 4, when a 24-year-old man was struck with a bullet.

Shelkie says the investigation has shown the bullet came from an apartment next door to the victim. She says two men were involved in a violent altercation in that unit when one of them was allegedly holding a firearm carelessly when it discharged.

The bullet went through the wall into the next apartment where it hit the victim, she says. He was treated for his injury at hospital and released.

Everyone in the apartment has been identified and officers are in the process of locating and speaking with them, Shelkie says. The name and description of the suspect who fired the gun will be released once charges are laid.

Kamloops RCMP are asking anyone with any information about this incident to contact police at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
