Up to 40 cm of snow in the forecast for the Interior this weekend

Several snowfall and winter storm warnings are in effect throughout the Interior.

Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning for the TransCan between Eagle Pass and Rogers Pass, where 25 to 40 cm of snow is expected between now and tomorrow night, Feb. 25.

“A frontal system over the Gulf of Alaska will bring snow at times heavy to the B.C. interior,” the warning says. “Snow will begin over the Columbia and Arrow-Slocan regions this morning and intensify in the afternoon, before tapering off to periods of light snow Sunday afternoon.”

A winter storm warning is also in effect for Highway 3 from Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass, where 25 to 40 cm is also expected between now and tomorrow night.

“Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve,” the warning says.

Anyone in the North Thompson can also expected 25 to 40 cm this weekend, where another winter storm warning is in effect.

The Coquihalla, from Hope to Merritt, is under a winter storm warning, as 20 to 35 cm of snow is expected this weekend.

And in the North Okanagan and Eastern sections of Kamloops, a snowfall warning is in effect, with 10 to 20 cm in the forecast. “Local accumulations up to 25 cm near the Monashees.”
