KELOWNA, B.C. - An unsportsmanlike crook has struck out in Kelowna, B.C., and it means kids in that Okanagan city can play ball this season.
Property crime investigators say they have recovered equipment stolen from Kelowna Minor Baseball.
The theft was reported March 1, but officers believe it occurred several days earlier when a locker was broken into at Elks Stadium, in Kelowna's north end.
New baseball bats, balls, uniforms and other new and used equipment valued at about $3000 was taken.
Most of the gear has been found crammed inside what police say appeared to be an abandoned storage locker that investigators determined had been registered to a person well-known to them.
Mounties haven't said if any arrests are pending, but they are certain that the Kelowna Minor Baseball season is safe at home plate, thanks to recovery of the stolen equipment.
