Unsettled is the weather word for Kamloops over the next few days

KAMLOOPS - Kamloops can expect some cooler and unsettled weather through the weekend.

Environment Canada meteorologist Matt MacDonald says Friday and Saturday will be the best of the next few days, as a second low pressure system is poised to make its way into the valley early next week.

"We've definitely seen a shift to much cooler temperatures and unsettled conditions for the last few days. Today will be much the same, only getting to a high of 18 Celsius, about seven degrees cooler than normal for this time of year," he says.

MacDonald says the showers, while not expected to be heavy, will be most welcome as the valley continues to experience dry conditions through June.

Kamloops has only received 1.6 mm of rain so far this month.

Environment Canada says today, June 20, in Kamloops expect a mainly cloudy day. Showers are expected this afternoon with a high of 18 Celsius and west winds at 30 km/h gusting to 50. Showers should end late this evening with clouds lingering.

Tomorrow should see a mix sun and cloud first thing in the day before becoming mainly sunny late in the morning with a high of 27 C and a low of 14 C.

The forecast Saturday calls for a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 27 C.

Clouds return overnight and into Sunday, with a 60 per cent chance of showers expected and a high of 22 C.

Monday and Tuesday next week are expected to be similar, with cloudy skies, a 60 per cent chance of showers and a high of 22 C.

Kamloops's normal high and low for this time of year is 26 C and 12 C.
