Unseasonably warm weather this week in Okanagan, Kamloops

Temperatures are expected to be as much as 10 degrees above normal this week in Kamloops and the Okanagan.

The normal daytime high temperatures for this time of year in the Okanagan and Kamloops are around 18 Celsius, according to Environment Canada.

In Kamloops, the weather office is forecasting a high of 27 C today, Sept. 26, and 29 C tomorrow under sunny skies before the mercury drops to the low 20s later in the week.

For the Okanagan, highs are expected to be around 25 C today and tomorrow, which is 8 degrees above normal.

Overnight is also expected to be warmer, with low temperatures around 11 C in Kamloops and the Okanagan. Overnight low temperatures at this time of year are usually around 11 C.

Winds could gust up to 40 km/h in Kamloops this afternoon and tomorrow but are only expected to be in the 20 km/h range in the Okanagan.

The forecast calls 60% chance of showers in the Okanagan on Wednesday and Thursday. For Kamloops, it’s only a 40% chance of showers on Wednesday then 60% Thursday.

Skies are expected to clear again in the Thompson-Okanagan region on Friday with a mix of sun and cloud for the weekend.
