Unprovoked assault in restaurant lands West Kelowna man in jail

West Kelowna man under arrest, facing charges after unprovoked assault on March, 2022.

An Okanagan man is under arrest and facing charges following an investigation into an unprovoked assault at a restaurant in West Kelowna.

Police responded to a report of the assault on Sunday, March 27, at a restaurant in the 2300 block of Highway 97, according to an RCMP media release. Police to do identify the restaurant.

The suspect had allegedly committed an unprovoked assault on a patron of the restaurant and damaged some of the patron’s property.

The investigation included interviewing multiple witnesses and reviewing CCTV footage, where RCMP members on patrol recognized the suspect and made an arrest on March 31.

The suspect was held in custody for a court appearance today, April 1.

“RCMP are happy to see a person identified as the suspect through the strong efforts of the investigative team with the cooperation of members of the public for this seemingly unprovoked attack," Kelowna RCMP Staff Sgt. Duncan Dixon in the release.

Dallas Morin, 36, has been charged with assault and mischief by the B.C. Prosecution Service.
