The janitorial company that employed the man who allegedly assaulted and killed a Kelowna security guard says it's 'fully cooperating' with various investigations in the incident.

Harmandeep Kaur, 24, died in hospital after she was assaulted by a man working at the UBC Okanagan University Centre building on campus, Feb. 26. She was working as a security guard with Paladin Security. Kelowna RCMP said the man was arrested under the Mental Health Act and may be facing murder charges.

Although UBCO did not directly state the man was a person employed by Best Service Pro, the university's janitorial service provider, it said it is working with the company and Paladin Security to review its processes following the attack.

Best Service president Bruce Taylor said in an emailed statement the company has "zero tolerance for any form of violence in the workplace."

"This incident does not reflect our company and our values, and we, like the authorities, want to understand why this happened and what triggered this tragic incident," he said, via email. "At this time, we are focused on working with and fully cooperating with the RCMP, WorkSafe B.C. and UBCO, as they conduct their investigation to ascertain the facts and understand how this tragedy occurred."

A vigil was held at the university this afternoon for Kaur and a funeral will be held for her in Squamish tomorrow, March 5 at 10:30 a.m. It will be live-streamed.
