Two former Thompson Rivers University volleyball players are competing in Tokyo a tthe 2020 Summer Olympics.

The TRU WolfPack alumni Gord Perrin and Kevin Tillie are returning after competing at the 2016 Rio Olympics, according to a news release from the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack.

Perrin, originally from Creston, will take to the court as captain of the Canadian team. He has enjoyed a professional career in volleyball which has taken him across the world, after playing three seasons at the Kamloops university.

Perrin was outside hitter with the WolfPack from 2007 to 2010, where he joined the team at three straight national tournaments. In his first season, Perrin was named Canada West Rookie of the Year.

Tillie, who will be representing France at the 2020 Summer Olympics, also earned the Canada West Rookie of the Year title while he played in Kamloops from 2009 to 2011, TRU said.

After transferring to University of California-Irvine, he won two straight NCAA Division I championships.

Like Perrin, Tillie travelled internationally to continue his professional career after leaving university.

Perrin can be seen in action leading Team Canada against Italy at 5 p.m., July 23, while Tillie will be on the court with France against Team U.S.A on July 24, at 5:45 a.m.
