Two people busted in Salmon Arm after failed kidnapping attempt

Two people were arrested by Salmon Arm RCMP yesterday, Aug. 23, after they attacked a man and forced him into a vehicle.

The man was grabbed in the 2000 block of Piers Point Road near Salmon Arm at about 5:45 p.m., according to an RCMP media release. He was able to jump out of the moving vehicle and flee into a house on First Nations Road where he called police

His attackers then broke into the house, whereupon the resident fled. The suspects then tried to hide from police in the house.

Police sealed off the house and the suspects surrendered at about 10:30 p.m.

A 26-year-old man and 34-year-old woman, who were known to police, were arrested and are being held in custody pending their first court appearance. Police are recommending charges of kidnapping, assault causing bodily harm and uttering threats.

The victim is recovering in hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries. It appears to be a targeted event, RCMP said.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Salmon Arm RCMP at 250-832-6044.
