Two new COVID-19 cases at Kelowna schools

New COVID-19 cases have been confirmed at a Kelowna middle and high school.

A COVID-19 case has been confirmed at both Okanagan Mission Secondary, after a case was already announced yesterday, Nov. 5, and KLO Middle School, according to a press release from Central Okanagan Public Schools.

The school district did not say in media releases issued last night, Nov. 5, whether it was a student or staff member with COVID-19 but noted the case at the high school does not appear to be linked to cases in Kelowna schools announced previously.

Both individuals are self-isolating at home with support from local public health teams. Interior Health follows up with anyone potentially exposed to a confirmed case directly through contact tracing.

Central Okanagan Public Schools will continue to implement the strict health and safety protocols and procedures that are in place so students and staff can continue to attend school as safely as possible and works with Interior Health to determine if any additional actions are required, and to support ongoing communication to the the schools, according to the press release.

The district reminds people to stay home from school if they show any symptoms.

An outbreak at École de l'Anse-au-sable is now over and students and staff are returning to the classroom today, Nov. 6.
