Highway 97A has reopened to single-lane alternating traffic this afternoon following a vehicle accident.

The Sicamous RCMP is reporting that two people have died after a semi-truck and vehicle collided on Highway 97A this morning.

Cpl. Wade Fisher said the semi was travelling in the northbound lane and the other vehicle was in the southbound lane when the two collided.

The incident occurred near Swansea Point on Mara Lake south of Sicamous at roughly 11 a.m. today, Oct. 6.

An assessment is in progress and a detour is available using Highway 97B, according to Drive BC.
