Two charged in 2021 robbery and stabbing at Kamloops dry cleaner

Two men are facing charges for a stabbing and robbery at a Kamloops dry cleaner in 2021.

It took a year-and-a-half but Tristan Bris Fernandez and Douglas Paul Tresierra are now charged in connection to the robbery at McCleaners on Summit Drive where one woman was stabbed on June 8.

Kamloops RCMP responded to a panic alarm at the dry cleaning business at around 7:15 a.m. and were updated by dispatch on their way to the scene that victim was stabbed and robbed.

It's not clear who but one of the suspects was arrested that day. Another was on the run and police believed a truck fire about a block away was related to the robbery.

Tresierra, born in 1981, is now accused of aggravated assault, robbery and possession of stolen property over $5,000. Fernandez, born in 1996, is facing a charge for disguising his face to commit a crime, according to court documents.

At the time of the robbery, Kamloops RCMP didn't say what was stolen during the McCleaners robbery and assault but did say the woman's injuries weren't life-threatening.

Fernandez is facing a less serious charge and is no stranger to the courts.

Just months later, he was accused of robbing a business on Battle Street with two others. Police found the getaway van burning in Riverside Park on Aug. 3, 2021, shortly after the reported robbery.

While the charges for the McCleaners robbery were only approved in December, Fernandez and co-accused Dakota Lynn-Marie McNabb appeared in court several times, only to have their charges stayed on Jan. 10.

The third suspect, Adam Hibbert, was found dead and his body burning in the Mission Flats area on Oct. 1, 2021, the same day they were all charged for the Battle Street robbery. Police are investigating Hibbert's death as a homicide, but no one has been charged.

Fernandez has also served time in jail for other crimes including two years for an armed robbery in 2017 when he was only 21.

He and Tresierra will each appear in Kamloops Provincial Court for bail hearings related to the McCleaners robbery and stabbing later this month.
