A homicide victim found near a Kamloops landfill was one of three people charged in a robbery in early August.
The victim is Adam Hibbert, 29, who was found around 4:15 p.m., Oct. 1, after firefighters were called to a suspicious fire and found a body near the entrance to the Kamloops landfill on Mission Flats Road, according to an RCMP media release.
He was charged the same day he was found dead.
Hibbert was one of three suspects in a robbery on Aug. 3, 2021 on Battle Street, which involved a blue Plymouth van which was used as a getaway vehicle and later found burning near Riverside Park.
Investigators say based on the evidence so far, they can confirm the death was a homicide.

Police have released Hibbert's photo in an effort to generate tips.
“We do know this was not a random event and there is no risk to the public,” RCMP Sgt. Nestor Baird said in the release. “In investigations like this, early tips and information from the public can be crucial."
Yesterday, Oct. 4, Kamloops RCMP arrested Tristan Fernandez, 25, who was another of the suspects in the August robbery.
Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn reiterated that Fernandez was arrested in relation to the robbery and not related to the homicide investigation.
“If anyone has video surveillance, cell phone or dash cam video that may have captured something suspicious in the Mission Flats area, or any information about the victim’s interactions prior to his murder, please let us know as soon as possible.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2021-34657.
