Two bodies found near Penticton shooting range, deaths ruled suspicious

Two bodies have been found following a fire earlier this week near a Penticton shooting range and the RCMP is calling the deaths suspicious.

On Sept. 15, Penticton RCMP were notified after the Summerland Fire Department was called to the paved road next to the Penticton Shooting Sports Range, located at 1797 BC-97. When firefighters arrived at the scene of the fire, they discovered two bodies and immediately contacted the police, according to the RCMP's news release.

Investigators determined these deaths are suspicious, said Sgt. Chris Manseau, acting senior media relations manager with the B.C. RCMP. "The BC RCMP Serious Crime Unit has since deployed to the area and will be assuming conduct of the investigation."

Police are currently working to identify the individuals and are not releasing further details at this time, he said.

A vehicle was later reported to be on fire in Oliver and investigators are working together to determine if these incidents are related.

If you have information about either of these incidents, police are asking you to call 1-877-987-8477.
