ARMSTRONG - Police are investigating a hit and run that left two teenage boys in Armstrong with minor injuries.

Last Thursday, Feb. 16, a pair of 15-year-old boys were walking north on Wood Avenue in Armstrong around 11:30 p.m. and were in the process of crossing the street at the intersection with Highland Park Road when they were hit by a car.

According to Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy, a black Honda hatchback slid to a stop at the stop sign, then made a lefthand turn, striking both boys.

The car did not stop, and continued to drive southbound on Wood Avenue.

“This was a low speed collision, and while both boys complained of being sore, they did not have serious injuries,” Noseworthy says, adding they were very lucky.

The boys would have had the right of way, and the vehicle was required to stop for them, Noseworthy says. She says even if the driver did not see them in the intersection, he or she would have felt the collision but still did not stop.

Anyone with information about the collision, or the vehicle, is asked to call the Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP at 250-546-3028 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
