TORONTO - Kevin Martin of Calgary won the fifth season of "Big Brother Canada" in Thursday night's finale on Global.
The professional poker player took the $100,000 grand prize along with a $30,000 gift card from The Brick and a new 2017 Toyota '86.
Karen Singbeil of Victoria was the runner-up in the reality competition series, in which contestants live together and compete in challenges in a house outfitted with cameras and microphones to capture their every move.
"I came here with one goal and one goal only: to make it to the end," Martin said in a statement.
"I haven't had a single ally in the house for the whole second half of the game, so every morning I would wake up and do nothing but strategize and study."
Demetres Giannitsos of Edson, Alta., was the third-place finalist.
