BANFF, Alta. - If "Slings and Arrows" is coming back to TV, you can count Paul Gross in.

"Nobody's talked to me about it but I'm pretty sure if they came back and said do you want to do another one everyone would say yeah," Gross said Wednesday at the Banff World Media Festival.

"It was an enormous amount of fun to do."

The Twitterverse was abuzz recently when an account apparently belonging to "Slings" co-creator Bob Martin suggested he'd been musing on what a fourth season might look like.

Using the Twitter handle @drstorper — a reference to his alter ego as a therapist on the recently cancelled CBC sitcom "Michael Tuesdays and Thursdays" — Martin tweeted "Slings may live again," adding "recently we have been meeting and thinking."

The brief comments were in response to tweeted queries from blogger Jonathan Mandell, who uses the Twitter handle @NewYorkTheater.

"Slings and Arrows" starred Gross as the artistic director of a struggling Shakespeare theatre company and featured Canadian stars including William Hutt, Sarah Polley, Mark McKinney, Don McKellar and Rachel McAdams.

"About this rumour? I don't know what Bob's up to," Gross said Wednesday.

"I saw him in New York when I was doing a show on Broadway over Christmas and we went out after and I was saying to him: 'You should just do another one.'"

Gross, whose credits also include the acclaimed film "Passchendaele" and the TV show "Due South," had high praise for the show.

"I thought the writing was magnificent. It was really human, very funny and surprising. A great pantheon of characters and all the actors involved really came with a full tool kit."

Gross said he wouldn't be surprised if "Slings" returns, adding it has fans around the globe.

"It's really peculiar because I get stopped all over the world by people who have seen it. Not on TV, but people have been passing it around — so it's really old school viral where people make copies and pass discs," he said.

"Slings" first aired in 2003 on Canada's premium channels the Movie Network and Movie Central before going on to find a dedicated following in the United States.

Martin says talk has centred on setting a new batch of episodes around a production of "Richard III."

"Is there a timetable, or (is it) more like a dream?" Mandell asked in a tweet posted June 3.

"Well, it's more than a dream, I'll tell you that much. I'll stop now, before I'm hoisted by my own petard," Martin responded.

The following day, however, Martin seemed to quell the speculation.

"Don't drink and tweet, clearly," he tweeted.
