A trial date has been scheduled for Curtis Sagmoen on an assault charge following an incident that took place two-and-a-half-years-ago.

The high-profile North Okanagan man is set to stand trial on one charge of assault causing bodily harm Feb. 10. The charge dates back to August 2017 and according to court files the assault took place at or near Falkland.

In December 2019, Sagmoen was found guilty of three charges regarding an incident in August 2017, when he pointed a gun at a sex worker near the Salmon River Road property where he lived with his parents. He was found guilty of covering his face with intent to commit an indictable offence and threatening to cause death or bodily harm while using a firearm. As he had been in custody since the incident, Sagmoen was released under a three-year probation order with strict conditions.

Originally the upcoming February trial was supposed to address two charges from separate incidents that took place in May and August 2017. In March 2019, the B.C. Prosecution Service said Crown had stayed the May 2017 charge of assault.

In late 2017, Sagmoen's family farm was searched and the remains of Traci Genereaux’s body were discovered. No charges have been laid in connection to her death.
