VERNON - Curtis Sagmoen has had one of two charges dropped from his upcoming December trial.

A seven-day trial is scheduled in Vernon court this December, which would have seen Sagmoen facing two charges of assault and assault causing bodily harm.

B.C. Prosecution Service spokesperson Dan McLaughlin confirmed the Crown had stayed the charge of assault, but will be proceeding with the assault causing bodily harm charge.

"As the matter remains before the court the (prosecution service) will have no comment at this time regarding the reason for the stay," McLaughlin said in an email.

Sagmoen's family farm was searched in late 2017 where missing Vernon teenager Traci Genereaux’s remains were discovered. No charges have been laid in connection to her death.
