TRENDING NOW: Confused vehicle drives through Penticton's new bike lane

The bike lane that opened in downtown Penticton last fall was recently used by a van.

A video shared to Facebook captures the error. The driver of a van turns left from Eckhardt Avenue on Martin Street. Even if it wasn’t a bike lane the van turned onto, the driver would have been on the wrong side of the road because Martin Street is one-way.

"Bike lanes are reserved for cyclists. Do not drive in bike lanes..." the Ministry of Transportation warns.

The driver of the van’s first opportunity to correct their mistake would have been about 100 meters north at the intersection of White Avenue East.
