KAMLOOPS – The details still need to be ironed out but work could start as early as next week on the Tranquille corridor upgrades after council approved the tender yesterday afternoon.
Council was quick to approve the $3.2 million project, even though it came in slightly over budget, with several councillors noting they are pleased to a see the project begin.
Public works director Tracy Kyle says they will now sit down with BA Dawson Construction to figure out timelines so the work interferes with traffic as little as possible.
“We may see a single lane closure during the multi-use part of the project,” she said Tuesday, “but it will likely be just the parking lane for most (of the project.)”
Kyle explained the project is actually three smaller ones combined in the tender—lighting, a multi-use lane and pedestrian curb extensions. This was done to help avoid conflicts that could arise out of having three separate contractors working in the same area at the same time.
