Tossing heavy stuff at Highland Games

A few competitors wore shirts with the logo "Keep Calm and Caber On".

KAMLOOPS - Another hugely successful Kamloops Highland Games.

Saturday’s event had everything you’d expect at a Celtic celebration.

There were pipers, drummers, highland dancers and of course the heavy athletics at Albert McGowan Park.

The competitors were tossing cabers and stones on chains (known as the weight throw event). The heavy events were sponsored and endorsed by the BCEAA Strongman Association. Some were wearing shirts that said, “Keep Calm and Caber On.”

The games also included a highland dancing competition presented by the Interior Highland Dancing Association. The pipers, drummers and bands took part in competitions sanctioned by the B.C. Pipers Association.
