PENTICTON - Penticton RCMP were 'out gummed' by a suspect during an incident at the South Okanagan Events Centre parking lot on the weekend.
RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says police responded to a call about a man asleep behind the wheel in the parking lot around 4:50 p.m. Friday, April 9.
Wrigglesworth says the man inside the Ford pickup made some "unusual comments" to the arriving officers, then took off on foot.
Police caught the suspect who bit an officer on the wrist. Fortunately for the officer the man’s dentures were not in his mouth.
Wrigglesworth says the driver was suffering from mental health concerns because he was not taking his medication properly.
Police transferred the man to the care of mental health workers and no charges were laid.
