Efforts to raise $650,000 in 10 days to buy land bordering on Kelowna's Okanagan Mountain Provincial Park seem to be falling short.
On July 5, the BC Parks Foundation announced its crowdfunding campaign to raise the final dollars needed to buy 151.7 acres of land north of Rattlesnake Island and add it to the park.
The total cost is $4 million.
The deadline to close the deal is Saturday, July 15. As of today, July 12, it’s still almost $453,000 short.

The hope was to add the land to the park and help create a wildlife corridor from Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park in the Vernon area through to Washington State.
It’s part of the foundation’s goal to protect 25% of BC’s land base by 2025.
