OKANAGAN - Environment Canada is issuing a special weather statement for the Okanagan Valley in anticipation of heavy rain and thunderstorms.
The statement is directed at the North, Central and South Okanagan including Vernon, Kelowna and Penticton.
“Showers and thunderstorms over the next few days will impact areas affected by overland flooding,” the statement reads. “Total rainfal will be in the 20 to 40 millimetre range by late Friday.”
Showers will spread to the Okanagan Valley from the east Thursday afternoon, May 17, the statement says, with the possibility of thurnderstorms and the continued risk of heavy downpours.
