Three new COVID-19 exposures confirmed at Kelowna schools

Interior Health has confirmed three new COVID-19 exposures at Central Okanagan schools.

A single exposure was confirmed each at Okanagan Mission Secondary School, KLO Middle School and Casorso Elementary School, yesterday, Nov. 11, according to the Central Okanagan school district.

This week, Central Okanagan Public Schools also announced late Tuesday, Nov. 10, that a person in the Constable Neil Bruce Middle School community in West Kelowna tested positive and is self-isolating at home. So far, 11 Central Okanagan schools have had COVID-19 exposures, or cases confirmed, according to Interior Health.

The latest exposures do not appear to be related to transmission within their respective schools.

"All individuals are self-isolating at home with support from local public health teams. Interior Health follows up with anyone potentially exposed to a confirmed case directly through contact tracing," according to a Central Okanagan Public Schools press release.

The school district continues to implement the strict health and safety protocols and procedures that are in place so students and staff can continue to attend school as safely as possible and is working with Interior Health to determine in any additional actions are required, according to the press release.

People are reminded to stay home from school if they show any symptoms.
