Salmon Arm RCMP have a man in custody after an hours-long stand off.

He was first spotted by a patrolling officer around 30 St. NE and 9 Ave. NE today, Sept. 6. The officer knew him to be wanted on arrest warrants already, but the suspect fled before he could be arrested.

With help from the public, police later found the man hiding in a home on 9 Ave. NE, according to a Salmon Arm RCMP news release.

The Southeast District emergency response team got to the scene, so heavily armed police could enter the house if needed.

After three hours, the man eventually surrendered to RCMP without incident, RCMP said.

Ryan Charron, 32, is expected to appear for a bail hearing after he was taken into custody under multiple arrest warrants.

One of those warrants was related to an April 11 armed robbery where Charron allegedly pointed and fired a shotgun toward a victim.
