The BC SPCA is looking for answers after three apparently healthy dogs were found dead in a ditch near Prince George yesterday.

All three animals appeared to have died as a result of bullet wounds to the head, the SPCA said.

The bodies of a black male French bulldog, a fawn-coloured female pug and a black and tan miniature pincher were found near the intersection of Damms Road and Willow Cale Road yesterday, Sept. 16. The bodies of the dogs have been sent to a forensic pathologist.

“The dogs appeared to be in good condition and well-cared for, so it is confusing that they would have been killed in such a disturbing manner,” Dr. Teresa Cook, the BC SPCA’s regional manager of cruelty investigations for northern B.C, said in a media release.

Anyone with information about the incident, the dogs or who may have been responsible is asked to contact the BC SPCA at 1-855-622-7722.
