Police are investigating a suspicious death in Vernon as a homicide, and so far three people have been arrested and released.

A person was found dead in a home on 32 Street early in the morning on Aug. 8, according to a press release from police.

Police were called to the 2100-block of 32 Street around 3:15 a.m. because of a disturbance at a residence.

When officers arrived they found a dead body inside the home. There were three people at the scene, and police took them all into custody.

All three people who were arrested at the scene have been released as police continue to investigate.

“The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP’s Serious Crimes Unit has deemed the death suspicious and the matter is being investigated as a homicide,” Const. Chris Terleski said in the release.

Several neighbours that iNFOnews.ca spoke to said the house was rented out and new tenants had recently moved in.

One neighbour said the new tenants looked like they'd just finished high school or were in their early 20s. He didn't want to be judgmental but said the new tenants looked really "sketchy."

“Our Serious Crimes Unit, with the assistance of RCMP Forensic Identification Services, are continuing to collect evidence at the scene in support of the ongoing investigation. Indications are that this is an isolated incident with no known risk to the public,” Const. Terleski said.

Police said they will not be providing any more details at this time.
