Ironically, nothing has really changed about Donald Trump. Oh, yes, he’s a convicted felon now, 34 times over. But much like Al Capone, who perpetrated countless crimes before eventually being put away for tax evasion, Trump now faces sentencing for falsifying government records, not nearly as heinous a crime as the charges he faces in two remaining Federal cases and another in state court. Still, they are felonies.

Trump is charged with 40 felony counts in Florida stemming from his alleged mishandling of sensitive government records after leaving the White House, as well as efforts to obstruct the Justice Department's investigation. Trump also faces a Federal court case in Washington, D.C. for an alleged plot to subvert the transfer of power after the 2020 presidential election.

Finally, a Fulton County, GA, grand jury indicted Trump and 18 co-conspirators in August 2023 in a racketeering case for an alleged scheme to overturn the 2020 presidential election results. He faces 10 felony counts there.

Of course, the largely ignorant and misinformed Trump loyalists are sticking to their ridiculous stories of how it’s just a Liberal Democrat conspiracy to get Trump. There were followers who similarly defended criminals and tyrants throughout history, from mobster Al Capone to dictator Adolph Hitler. These followers always projected the ills they suffer on their sworn enemies... fascism, rigged elections, lying, cheating, undermining Democracy, all things they do openly.

Anyone who knows me knows I can’t stand Donald Trump…I make no apologies. Unlike most folks who read my columns…I actually know the man firsthand. I’ve met and talked with him three times…face to face.

He is - without doubt - the worst excuse for a human being I know. That does leave some room, however, because I never met Hitler or Jeffrey Dahmer or Vlad the Impaler. Just about everything most folks spend a lifetime trying to avoid…Trump embraces.

He lies…oh, my God, how he lies. He cheats…in business, in golf and on his wife. He steals…something real billionaires don’t do. He’s a coward…and a bully. He’s a loser…losing not only more money than he’s ever made…but integrity…though a case can be made he never had any to lose.

He is a racist…with plenty of proof to back that assertion…from redlining black renters of Trump properties in the 1970s to hiring Jews for accounting jobs because, as he said several times in past decades, “they’re good with numbers.”

He’s a misogynist…again look at his record. He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth…and his sense of entitlement makes him think he can grab any woman by the genitals.

He told me 44 years ago that the best thing about business…was “getting even.” He is the darling of the Religious Right…despite not knowing it’s “Second Corinthians” not “Two Corinthians”. Sadly, the worship from the pious Right might say as much about them as him.

The very day Trump was convicted as a felon…he called out to followers to send money. He’s selling fake money with his photo…bobble head dolls…and other crap that will one day fuel garage sales across America.

Really, folks if you support Trump…and certainly if you send money…wise up. He doesn’t care about you…hell, he might not care about his kids…except the one he might want to grab. It doesn’t matter that I think Trump fans are pathetically ignorant…it really doesn’t. But it amazes me that people buy into his bullshit so easily.

Do you share his feelings of racism…misogyny…so much that you can look the other way. Hey, millions of Germans did the same with Hitler. But how much evidence…how much truth…how many facts are required to jar you from your position of blind loyalty?

Whether the three other criminal proceedings facing Trump happen before or after the November presidential election…facts and truths…the rule of law will determine his fate. It’s a pity some diehard Republicans can’t face truth…facts…they will be the ultimate undoing of what was once a decent political party.

Those who support freedom, democracy, the rule of law…will continue to vote…in even bigger numbers…and obliterate the Republican Party…because it is antithetical to what America wants to stand for.

Trump is not going to win the election this Fall…he isn’t. Enough Americans respect democracy and freedom and truth to give Joseph Biden another four years in the White House.

It would be a disaster…the end of democracy…if Trump were elected. There are simply more Americans who cannot stomach an America under Trump. Once, maybe…but not again. Never again.
