The concerned owner of a West Kelowna bike shop just wants people to know that his store is not a COVID-19 testing site.
Since January, Rich Stevenson, owner of Sovereign Cycle has had numerous visits from people trying to get a test for COVID-19.
Last night was the last straw for him, he said, after a man walked into the business which was concerning since the man might have had the disease.
Stevenson thinks the problem is happening because the cycle shop’s address at 110-3480 Carrington Rd. is similar to the actual COVID-19 test site in West Kelowna at 110-2300 Carrington Rd.
“Most of the time people are outside looking at the shop, or walking around the building and asking us where the COVID-19 testing site is,” he said.
When he searched for the COVID-19 test site himself on Google by typing in the site’s address, the bike shop popped up as the first result.
“We need to figure out how to curb this since it’s happening way too often,” he said, adding that it's bringing people who might have COVID-19 "to our doorstep."
“We just want to make sure that we’re healthy and those people are finding the correct place to go,” he said.
