Thinking of spring? BC set to take reservations for camping in provincial parks

FILE PHOTO.

As temperatures plummet thanks to a weather system funnelling frigid Arctic air into BC, you may be daydreaming about spring, and maybe even heading into the great outdoors to do some camping.

BC Parks has got you covered.

You can book a campsite in a provincial park for the May long weekend as of Wednesday, Jan. 17, according to a Ministry of Environment media release.

Last year, BC Parks introduced a Notify Me feature and campers can get email notifications when a previously booked campsite they want becomes available. Park visitors can pick up to five different dates and locations, so if one becomes available they will get a notification.

BC Parks recommends people “get out the calendar and plan camping trips,” because there were more than 366,000 campsite reservations made in B.C. in 2023.

The Martha Creek Provincial Park campground has been added to the reservation system this year. It was recently been upgraded with a new campground loop creating 32 new campsites, bringing the total to 108, with 82 available for reservation.

Martha Creek is the only provincial park on the Revelstoke reservoir.
