Things to do in Penticton this weekend perfect for late season winter weather

PENTICTON - It’s a weekend of mostly indoor things to do in Penticton with unique wine events, music and hockey to highlight activities.

The Kiwanis Music Festival continues this weekend with performances at multiple venues in Penticton. Performances in classical voice are today, March 8, and Saturday, March 9 at the Penticton United Church. Check out the music festival website here for further details.

The Canadian Sport School Hockey Championships are underway in Penticton with games today through Sunday, March 10. This is the fifth consecutive year for the Hockey Championships with 73 teams and 1,300 students taking part. Tickets are $15 for a day pass and can be purchased here.

A night of dancing and fun awaits those attending the Friday night dance at Penticton Seniors Centre. Glory Days performs a mix of classic, latin, country, waltz. polka and fox trot to keep you moving. Cost is $7, at the Penticton Senior’s Drop in Centre, tonight from 7:30 until 10 p.m.

Jackson-Triggs and Inniskillin Okanagan Estate Wineries have put together a weekend brunch food and wine pairing, creative food bites paired with wines from the two wineries listings. Patrons will be guided through the unique pairings in small groups of a dozen. The event runs Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The cost is $35 per person. The Naramata Bench Wineries Association and Apex Mountain Resort host the seventh annual Vertical and Vintages event on Apex Mountain on Saturday, March 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Gunbarrel Saloon. You can make it a full weekend of wine, friends, and skiing. A Vertical and Vintages ticket gets you a 25 per cent discount off a full day adult lift ticket. Okanagan Symphony Orchestra presents CSO at the Oscars, an evening of movie music from sweeping Hollywood dramas to movie classics.
