Thieve broke into the Lorne Street pump station in Kamloops over the weekend to steal copper wire.
The theft was discovered at about 10:50 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 24, and is believed to have happened over the weekend, according to an RCMP news release.
Large diameter electric cables were cut and taken, causing an estimated $10,000 damage to pumps.
“If anyone saw anything suspicious at or near the pump station this weekend or knows someone who suddenly came into possession of large electric cables, please let us know,” Kamloops RCMP media relations officer RCMP Const. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.
“When people steal or damage city property, it impacts all those who live here.”
Anyone with as information is asked to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file number 2022-2519.
