A family owned business, it has operated in Vernon for nearly three decades. With just one location, owners Dennis and Heather Huizinga say they can put all their energy into making the store a great place to shop.

"Its cosy atmosphere and knowledgeable staff gives customers peace and confidence they are going to be treated exceptionally well," says Dennis Huizinga.

Huizinga is a tile setter himself, and the store is staffed by a team that has installation experience with the products they sell. Not only will your installation and product questions be answered on the spot, the store is stocked with all the products needed for your entire installation project.

For instance, if you buy in-stock tile for a shower, you will also find shower systems, the thinset, the grout, the sealer and the tile edges to install it properly — and even heat cables for the project.

The store also provides a great selection of vinyl and hardwood products that can be ordered in for customers.

Arden Tile offers unique purchase experiences as well. It goes out of its way to partner with companies that offer products of high quality and originality.

One example is cement tiles hand-made in Vietnam. These tiles are not mass produced but created by hand in a factory by skilled artisans. Each employee in the factory where they are produced only makes up to 75 tiles a day, each slightly different and original.
In addition to the cement tiles, the store also carries bullnose tile, which represents a huge line of Mexican handmade tile and terracotta. The exquisite tiles need to be seen to be appreciated, and store staff are more than happy to show them to customers and talk about the quality.

Arden Tile also carries Vintage and Mirage hardwoods that are made in Canada. These companies employ more than 800 people and provide an extremely high quality product with unparalleled warranties.

But it's not just the retail side where the store excels, it's also the installation experience.

Arden Tile has skilled tradespeople to do the installation work for you. Arden uses only a select few tradespeople who the owners know and trust to not only provide precision work, but who also offer great customer service.

Huizinga says the store will not bill out for a job until the customer is happy with the completed work.

"No job is too small," he says. "At Arden Tile, we don’t want our customers to feel like their job is insignificant. We will do a backsplash or a small fireplace if that is all that needs installing. And we will be fair on how much it will cost."

He says that approach has resulted in many repeat customers over the years, customers who tell their friends about the great job Arden does.

"That is why we have such a small advertising budget. Word of mouth is free."
