There were four new cases of COVID-19 in the Interior Health region in the last 24 hours, all of which have now been linked to the Kelowna exposures from parties around the July 1 holiday.

That brings the total number of people in the Kelowna area who have contracted the disease from those events to 130 out of a total of 360 cases in the entire Interior Health region since the start of the pandemic in early March.

The updated numbers were released by Interior Health today, July 30.

Initially, Interior Health only reported the number of cases directly linked to downtown Kelowna but it has changed its reporting practices after realizing the disease has spread further.

No more employees of Kelowna General Hospital have been infected. At least eight people were identified as working at the hospital. They contracted COVID-19 in the community and patients were not infected.
