TORONTO - It's a joyous day for Toronto's "Les Miserables," with the recent smash production scoring a leading 11 Dora Mavor Moore Award nominations.

Also getting a leading 11 nods in the musical theatre division at a news conference Monday was "London Road."

Both are up for best production and best direction, as well as trophies in all acting categories.

The 25th anniversary version of "Les Miserables" wrapped at Mirvish Productions' Princess of Wales Theatre in February.

Several of the Toronto cast members moved on to the current Broadway production, including Dora-nominated star Ramin Karimloo, who is also up for a Tony Award.

"London Road," which closed at Canadian Stage in February, is based on the 2006 murders of five sex workers in Ipswich, England.

Other big Dora nominees include Soulpepper Theatre's "Of Human Bondage," which is up for nine awards in the general theatre division.

Now into their 35th year, the Doras honour top Toronto talent in the performing arts, with categories also including dance and theatre for young audiences.

The awards show will be held on June 23 at Harbourfront Centre's WestJet Stage.
