As Christmas approaches, a crisp and beautiful train ride is on the minds of many residents of the area. This year, when you book your Spirit of Christmas excursion, you will have the opportunity to make Christmas a little brighter for our furry friends as well.

Kamloops Heritage Railway and Four Paws Food Bank have united to collect pet necessities for two of the train rides, December 10 & 17, both Sundays with a 4 pm departure.

Four Paws President and founder Bonnie McBride says, "Four Paws is pleased to be invited to partner with KHR! We will see you before the train departs with some of the pets evacuated during the summer. Donations of pet food and funds will be gratefully accepted."

In addition, Manager of Railtour Operations Rosanne Nelson will present a cheque to Four Paws on the 10th. "We collected money from passengers on our summer excursions with the intention of contributing to the devastating wildfire cause. Before we suspended our operations due to the smoke, we collected almost two thousand dollars, and I am thrilled to offer the money to Four Paws to continue to help animals in the wildfire zone."

KHR will also have an area set up where people can take Christmas photos with some of these awesome animals. Tickets will go on sale for all seven of KHR's Spirit of Kamloops railtours at noon on Monday, November 13 and can be purchased on the website kamrail.com

Stay tuned for an announcement on which program will partner with KHR for the remaining five railtours.
