The old Rose's Pub in Kelowna is getting a heavy duty make-over

Rose's Pub on the Kelowna waterfront is getting a makeover.

KELOWNA - The old Rose’s Pub on Kelowna's waterfront is clearly in the midst of a heavy duty renovation, but the new ownership is keeping mum on what's in store.

“I can confirm that we have begun very preliminary construction on the site; however, at this time we do not have any specific details to announce for this location,” said Christy Murphy, vice president of communications for Cactus Restaurants, which purchased the space last year.

A Cactus Club is currently on the bottom floor of the Yacht Club building, which is just across a boat launch entry from Rose's. It moved into the space in 2015. It’s unclear how long the lease was for.

Rose’s closed Sept. 30 2018, leaving 58 workers, including some seasonal staff out of a job.

Perhaps more than that, however, it marked the end of an era, and the memories made inside of the building prompted an outpouring of affection, much of which is still scrawled on the building.
