The Okanagan is full of social media influencers, and one is giving her list of recommendations on who to check out.

Megan Jackson, co-founder of Kelowna video production company One Peak Creative, said One Peak saw a spike in social media after the pandemic hit. As businesses closed and they had some time, they wanted to keep their skills sharp and experiment.

Last spring, the team decided to do one ad a day as part of what they called Adsolation, a 30-day video ad challenge focusing on brands they loved. They started to see social media growth, and local businesses started reaching out asking to promote local businesses and send them products, Jackson said.

“It definitely was never the intention to set out and become an influencer per se, but I guess it’s slowly turned into that…. I’ve never heard of an influencer agency, it’s kind of odd, there’s five of us sharing one channel and people can sign onto our Instagram and you never know what you’re going to get,” she said.

Consistency helped with their growth and once they started creating the videos each day, it was hard to stop, she said. Prior to the pandemic, putting their lives on social media wasn’t something they did every day. Now they show people behind the scenes of a video project and show how videos are created which has created a community of people who love videography, she said.

And they haven’t spent a dime on marketing, she said.

One Peak has 31,000 followers on Instagram and 21,000 followers on TikTok.

This is Jackson’s list of some local influencers she follows in the Okanagan.

“I love people in our community that show up entirely as themselves,” she said.

Basics with Bails

Food blogger Bailey Campbell, known for her humour, has 35,000 Instagram followers.

“What I love most about her is how hilarious she is on the daily,” Jackson said.

Jillian Harris

A client of One Peak’s, “I love turning into her life… just to see what she gets up to every day. I think it’s really cool when people bring others into their lives and get a little bit vulnerable,” Jackson said.

Harris has 1.3 million Instagram followers, 45,000 YouTube followers and 350,000 Facebook followers.

The Cake Mama

Creator of delicious vegan recipes, Izabela is both blogger and baker.

“I love how creative she is,” Jackson said.

She has 35,000 Instagram followers.

Fraiche Living

Tori Wesszer, who focuses on food, fashion, decor and beauty, is “amazing,” Jackson said.

“I feel like food is the theme I’m giving here. I just really like food people,” she said. “They’re able to show their failures as well. If something doesn’t work out you get to see the real side of things.”

Her Instagram account, Fraiche Living, has 207,000 followers, her Pinterest has 31,000 followers and Facebook has 20,000 likes.
