KELOWNA – The hunt is on to fill the slippers of the man who brought ballet to the Okanagan.

Ballet Kelowna founding artistic director David LaHay has choreographed his last dance for the company.

The last show of the season, Innovation, has finished touring and now the board will be looking for his replacement.

Before LaHay had a chance to leap off the stage and into the wings, the dancers surprised him at the last show of the season with a routine they choreographed in his honour — set to Michael Buble’s Save the Last Dance for Me.

As well, Ballet Kelowna’s photographer Glenna Turnbull revealed a slideshow about LaHay’s legacy to the dance world.

The show wrapped with LaHay’s ballet Redux Continuum. Neville Bowman, who composed the music for the dance, played live for the performance.
