The following homes are under evacuation order, effective immediately

The Mount Christie wildfire is resulting in an evacuation of Heritage Hills south of Penticton this afternoon, Aug. 18, 2020.

An evacuation order has been issued for Heritage Hills properties as a wildfire continues to burn near the area today.

The regional district issued the order this afternoon, Aug.18, but there are reports the website is not always accessible.

The Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen has been dealing with network issues since last week, which has caused issues with internet and email connections to the organization.

The latest evacuation order is as exactly as issued by the regional district:

EOC Update: Evacuation ORDER issued for Heritage Hills in Electoral Area “D”

An Evacuation ORDER has been issued by the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen Emergency Operations Centre (RDOS EOC). The RDOS EOC has placed 319 properties under Evacuation ORDER due to a wildfire at Heritage Hills and near McLean Creek Road in Electoral Area “D”.
An Evacuation ORDER has been issued to prepare residents to evacuate their premises or property immediately.
The RDOS EOC is working with BC Wildfire to assess the situation.

When under order please register at ess.gov.bc.ca
Click on self-register now on website.
What you should do:

  • You must leave the area immediately.
  • Follow the directions of emergency responders and travel the designated or safest route available.
  • Register as an evacuee at 199 Ellis Street, Penticton, BC.
  • If you need transportation assistance from the evacuation area, contact the RDOS EOC.
  • If you identify as having extraordinary needs, contact the RDOS EOC for assistance.
  • Shut off all gas and electrical appliances, other than refrigerators and freezers.
  • Close all windows and doors
  • Please store your Fire Arms in accordance with Section 118 of the Fire Arms Act.
  • Close gates (latch) but do not lock.
  • Gather your family and if you have room, take a neighbor or someone needing transportation. Do not use more vehicles then you have to.
  • Take critical items only if they are immediately available:
  • Government issued ID
  • Medications
  • Eyeglasses
  • Valuable papers (e.g. insurance, credit, and mortgage information)
  • Immediate care needs for dependents

Take pets in pet kennels or on a leash.
Pet owners and hobby farmers with concerns for their animals:

Farmers who require assistance call the RDOS EOC.

Do not use the telephone unless you need emergency service.

YOU MUST LEAVE THE AREA IMMEDIATELY
