KELOWNA - A new supercharger station for a high-end line of electric supercars is now in Kelowna — a first for the Okanagan.
The Best Western Plus Hotel & Suites has partnered with Tesla to install a charging station that can charge the batteries of their Model S line in around half an hour. The station was installed last month.
Kamloops got a supercharge station last year and now that Kelowna has caught up, there are Tesla Motors supercharging stations in six B.C. communities — Vancouver, Hope, Kelowna, Kamloops, Revelstoke and Golden. Supercharge stations can charge a vehicle in as little as 20 minutes.
There are also a couple dozen 'destination charging' stations, which charge a little more slowly, available throughout the Southern Interior.
With a full charge taking the car up to 200 km, the station will be critical in enticing local motorists to invest in the electric cars, which according to a page on the Predator Ridge website can be leased for under $1,500 a month.
For a map of Tesla charge stations visit the Tesla Motors website, for a full list of electric charge stations visit plugshare.com.
