UPDATE: Pool reopened at Parkinson Recreation Centre

UPDATE 3:44 p.m., Oct. 29, 2014

The Parkinson Recreation Centre main pool has now re-opened.

A reduction in water clarity was caused by a mechanical malfunction that affected the pool’s filtration system. The issue has been resolved and City staff will continue to monitor the equipment. The closure was necessary to maintain a clean and safe facility.

Some swim lessons and aquatic fitness classes are still cancelled for today until the pool temperature regulates. City staff will contact those customers affected. The pool schedule can be viewed on the City website.

4:08 p.m., Oct. 28, 2014

The City of Kelowna is temporarily closing the Parkinson Recreation Centre’s main pool for maintenance due to water clarity.

This closure will only affect the main pool. The children’s pool, whirlpool and steam room will remain open. Swim lessons and aquatic fitness classes are cancelled at this time and those customers affected will be contacted by Parkinson Recreation Centre staff.

Staff is working on the issue and will resolve it as soon as possible. Updates will be provided on the city website.
