Temperatures on the rebound this week in the Okanagan

The first days of September should be good for finishing off valley gardens, with sun and warmth expected for most of the week.

After a cooler than normal weekend in the Okanagan, temperatures are on the rebound with a return to summer weather this week.

Daytime high temperatures this week are expected to be warmer than normal for this time of year.

There is a 30 per cent chance of showers in the Okanagan this morning, Aug. 31, before clearing conditions take over. The wind will be out of the northwest at 20 km/h gusting to 40 this afternoon. Today’s high should reach 23 C in Vernon, 24 Celsius in Kelowna and 25 C in Penticton, with a low down to 13 C in Vernon and Kelowna, 12 C in Penticton.

Tomorrow the heat returns with a high of 29 C in Vernon, 30 C in Kelowna and 31 C in Penticton under mainly sunny skies. Tomorrow night’s low should dip to 15 C under clear skies.

A mix of sun and cloud is expected Wednesday with a high of 26 C and a low of 11 C.

Thursday and Friday should see temperatures back to the 30 C mark under mostly sunny skies. Overnight lows for Thursday and Friday are expected to be 13 C and 12 C respectively.

The weekend is looking pretty good at this point, with sunny skies and highs of 30 C and Saturday and 26 C on Sunday.

Normal temperatures at this time of year in the Okanagan are highs of 23 C and lows of 9 C.
