This year's white Boxing Day snow was not expected to last, but once again it seems Mother Nature does what she wants.
Environment Canada has updated its weather predictions since forecasting today, Saturday Dec. 29, to be 7 C in Kamloops and 4 C in the Okanagan.
Kamloops is now expected to be cloudy with a 70 per cent chance of flurries, then 70 percent chance of rain showers this afternoon. Wind from the east at 40 km/h gusting to 60 km/h. The high will be 4 C and tonight's low is expected to be 1 C.
The Okanagan is cloudy throughout.
In Kelowna and Penticton there's a 40 per cent chance of flurries this morning. Kelowna is expected to get periods of snow mixed with rain beginning this afternoon. Snowfall amount 2 cm. Wind south at 20 km/h gusting to 40. High of 1 C with wind chill making it feel like -9 C in the morning. Tonight there is expected to be periods of snow mixed with rain ending late this evening then mainly cloudy. Snowfall amount 2 cm tonight. Wind south at 20 km/h gusting to 40 becoming light late this evening. Low -1 C with the wind chill going down to -3 C overnight.
Penticton and Vernon should see periods of rain mixed with light snow beginning this afternoon. Penticton should get a south wind at 40 km/h gusting to 60 km/h. The high is 3 C. Tonight is to be mainly cloudy with 40 per cent chance of rain showers or flurries. Wind southwest 20 km/h gusting to 40 km/h. Temperature steady near 2 C.
In Vernon the expected snowfall amount is 2 cm. Wind south at 20 km/h gusting to 40. The high is 1 C. Wind chill minus 9 in the morning. Tonight a few flurries and rain showers ending late this evening then partly cloudy. Snowfall amount 2 cm. Wind south 20 km/h gusting to 40 becoming light late this evening. The low tonight is -1 C, with a wind chill at -3 C overnight.
