Temperature drop expected Saturday to kick off the Thanksgiving weekend in Kamloops

Rain is forecast for today, part of the weekend and next week in the Kamloops area.

Kamloops residents can expect more fall-like weather conditions just in time for Thanksgiving weekend.

Environment Canada says the city should see a mix of conditions, with temperatures retreating to seasonal values over the weekend and into next week.

A cold front anticipated Saturday should see shifting winds accompanied by a sudden drop in temperatures in the afternoon.

For today, Oct. 9, Kamloops can expect showers ending this morning followed by cloudy skies and a 40 per cent chance of showers. Winds should become east at 30 km/h near noon with a high of 19 Celsius.

Tonight should see clouds with a 40 per cent chance of showers and east winds at 20 km/h gusting to 40, with a low to 14 C.

Saturday's forecast calls for clouds, with a 30 per cent chance of showers in the morning followed by showers beginning around noon.

There could also be a thunderstorm Saturday afternoon, with east winds at 20 km/h gusting to 40, becoming west at 40 gusting to 60 near noon.

Saturday’s expected high of 16 C will be short lived as the temperature is expected to drop to 10 C in the afternoon, with cloudy periods and a 60 per cent chance of showers extending overnight, along with a low of 6 C.

Sunday is expected to be a mix of sun and cloud, a high of 13 C and a low of 8 C, with rain overnight.

More showers are in store for Thanksgiving Monday, with a high of 14 C and a low of 4 C.

Rain is also forecast for Tuesday, with a high of 11 C and a low of 7 C.

An improving trend is forecast for Wednesday, with cloudy periods, a high of 13 C and a low of 6 C expected.

Thursday should see a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 16 C.

Kamloops’ normal high and low for this time of year is 15 C and 4 C.
