Anyone who played a new scratch and win lottery in B.C. may have won and they don’t realize it.

Those who bought a $3 Road to Riches scratch and win ticket on Monday, June 6, are being advised by the B.C. Lottery Corporation to re-check their tickets.

There was an error in the system that validates whether or not a ticket is a winner, according to a lottery corporation media release.

It was the first day the new lottery ticket was being sold and the corporation estimates of the roughly 1,900 tickets purchased, approximately 503 displayed the “not a winner” message.

The review of ticket validations was sparked when a customer complained they had a winning ticket but the ticket-checking terminal said it wasn’t a winner.

The lottery corporation stopped selling the scratch tickets until it determined the validations for the game were working again.

“BCLC confirms that no other ticket was impacted by this error related to the loading of validation files into BCLC’s gaming system,” the media release said.
