Kamloops RCMP have a suspect in custody facing robbery and assault charges after a call for help on Tuesday.
On April 2, around 12:30 p.m., Kamloops RCMP officers were dispatched to the area of Angus Street and Mackenzie Avenue after receiving a report involving two people fighting, according to a news release.
“Officers arrived and located a man with serious injuries and a suspect nearby,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP Detachment spokesperson, said. “Shortly after, the suspect allegedly assaulted a police officer.”
The victim was transported to a hospital and the police officer was not injured.
26-year-old Jamie Jason Gillam is being charged with one count each of robbery, aggravated assault, assault of a police officer and theft under $5,000.
Gillam will remain in custody until his next court appearance on April 10.
