RCMP arrested a torch-wielding suspect in connection with an assault in downtown Kelowna last night.

RCMP received a call about a man and a woman involved in an altercation at Bernard Avenue and Ethel Street at around 7:20 p.m. yesterday, Nov. 8, according to an RCMP media release. The man was threatening to harm the woman and he reportedly had a torch.

When officers arrived on the scene they arrested a male suspect. The woman had been stabbed and was taken to hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Police say the suspect and the victim knew each other.

Bodan Allen Sylvester Henry, 31, has been charged with aggravated assault, uttering threats and breach of probation.

Henry remains in custody and is set to appear in court on Nov. 16.

Anyone who may have witnessed this event, or has dash cam video, is asked to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.
